TheΒ Sophie Scarf is one of those patterns thatβs so satisfying to knit, youβll immediately want to cast on another. Itβs worked back and forth from tip to tip in garter stitch, with neat built-in i-cord edges for a polished, professional finish.
The small version loops once around your neck for that effortless French-girl look, while the large wraps twice for a bit of extra warmth and drama. Either way, itβs a great βjust one more rowβ kind of knit.
About the Yarn
The original pattern calls for luxury cashmere, but youβve got plenty of beautiful alternatives that feel every bit as soft. Weβve knitted this one several times (yes, weβre obsessed), and we particularly love it in:
Two strands of Sesia Oliver held together β for a light, silky texture and beautiful stitch definition.
Lana Grossa Setasuri β for a soft halo and feather-light drape.
Lana Grossa Cool Wool 5 ply β for a classic, smooth finish that wears well every day.
Youβll want something around a 4 ply / fingering weight yarn, or two strands of a finer yarn to match the gauge (22 sts over 10 cm). It doesnβt take much yarn, which makes it perfect for using a single special skein or those partial balls you canβt bear to waste.
