Keep little toes cosy with Sunday Socks Junior by Petite Knit. These classic children's socks pair a textured ribbed leg and instep with a smooth stocking-stitch heel and sole, making a lovely handmade addition to the everyday sock drawer.
Worked from the top down, from cuff to toe, the pattern uses double rib (k2, p2) on the leg and instep and stocking stitch on the heel and sole of the foot. Knit them in an 8 ply yarn, or use two strands of 4 ply held together, to achieve the stated gauge.
Sizes
- EU shoe sizes: 20/21 (22/23) 24/25 (26/27) 28/29 (30/31) 32/33 (34/35)
- US children's shoe sizes: 5–6 (6½–7½) 8–9 (9½–10½) 11–12 (12½–13½) 1–2 (3–4)
Yarn
8 ply yarn, or two strands of 4 ply yarn held double. Choose your yarn to match the gauge below. The pattern requires 50-100g depending on size.
Needles
- 4 mm [US6] double-pointed needles.
- Alternatively, a 4 mm [US6] / 80 cm [32 inches] circular needle for the Magic Loop technique.
Gauge
20 stitches × 31 rows = 10 × 10 cm [4 × 4 inches] in stocking stitch on 4 mm [US6] needles.
