September Sweater (Junior/Child)

A Note on Brioche Stitch & Blocking

Brioche stitch is very stretchy and can be difficult to measure accurately — always take gauge measurements more than once. Note that brioche will expand approx. 4–6 cm in circumference with wash and wear, so the finished sweater will grow slightly with use. Knit a swatch and check your gauge carefully before casting on.

• 5 mm [US8] circular needles — 40, 60 and/or 80 cm (16, 24 and/or 32 inches)
• 4.5 mm [US7] circular needles — 60 or 80 cm (24 or 32 inches)
• 3.5 mm [US4] circular needles — 40 cm (16 inches)
• 4.5 mm [US7] double pointed needles

Gauge

12 sts × 38 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4 × 4 inches) in brioche stitch on 5 mm [US8] needles.

Note: 38 rows in brioche stitch are counted as 19 knit stitches.
