The Poppy Tee is worked from the top down with a beautifully structured yoke. First, the upper back yoke is worked with increases, then the shoulders are shaped from stitches picked up along the slanted edges of the back yoke. Stitches are then picked up along the shoulders and the rest of the yoke is worked on a circular needle, first flat and then in the round.

The body is worked in the round, and the sleeves are worked in the round using either double-pointed needles or the Magic Loop technique. The tee is finished with a folded neckline featuring built-in double knitting for a clean, polished edge.

Swatching is essential for this design. Wash and block your swatch before measuring, as the recommended yarn types can grow after washing.

Option 1 β€” Single strand luxury fingering

  • Approx. 175–350 g (depending on size)

  • Fingering / 4-ply yarn

  • Approx. 110–115 m per 25 g

  • Smooth yarns with drape work best

Option 2 β€” Light wool held with silk mohair

  • Approx. 200–350 g of a light fingering yarn
    (around 235–250 m per 50 g)

  • Held together with 100–200 g silk mohair

This option gives a soft halo and slightly more structure.

Option 3 β€” Two strands of silk mohair
