Olga Sweater

The Olga Sweater is a relaxed, modern striped sweater worked from the top down in stockinette stitch. The design begins with the back yoke, worked flat with short rows to shape the shoulders, while the stripes are established at the same time.

Each shoulder is then worked separately before being joined to form the front yoke. At the underarms, the front and back are joined and the body is worked in the round, continuing the stripe pattern. The sleeves are worked downward from picked-up stitches around the armholes, and the sweater is finished with a folded neckline for a clean, polished edge.

With its generous ease and bold stripes, the Olga Sweater is comfortable, wearable, and a great canvas for colour play — whether you go classic, high-contrast, or subtle and tonal.

The Olga Sweater is designed with approximately 23 cm of positive ease in the smaller sizes, gradually decreasing in the larger sizes.

Needles

• 4 mm circular needles (40, 60, 80 or 100 cm)

• 3.5 mm circular needles (40, 80 or 100 cm)

• 3.5 mm & 4 mm double-pointed needles
  (or use Magic Loop)

Yarn Type Needed

This pattern is written for a DK / 8-ply wool yarn with good structure and stitch definition — ideal for stripes and everyday wear.

You will need two contrasting colours:

• Colour 1: darker shade

• Colour 2: lighter shade

Amount of Yarn Needed per Size

Amounts are approximate and based on a DK / 8-ply yarn at ~90–100 m per 50 g.
