Suri alpaca is the rarer and more prized of the two alpaca breeds, producing a fibre that is longer, silkier, and more lustrous than the more common Huacaya. Where Huacaya alpaca has a fluffy, crimped character, Suri hangs in long, silky locks with a natural sheen that is closer to silk than to wool. It is extraordinarily soft — finer than cashmere — and has a beautiful drape that makes it ideal for garments and accessories where movement and flow matter. The silk amplifies all of these qualities: it adds luminosity, strength, and a subtle sheen that catches the light beautifully, and gives the yarn a smooth, almost liquid quality as it passes through your fingers.
One of the great pleasures of Setasuri is its versatility.
