Gather Sleeve Cardi

The Gather Sleeve Cardi is simple, structured, and quietly dramatic — a timeless cardigan elevated by thoughtful details. Designed with a relaxed fit, it features soft gathers at the sleeve, gentle neck shaping, drop shoulders, and statement balloon sleeves that add just the right amount of volume.

This seamless cardigan is worked from the top down in 4-ply / fingering weight yarn. Construction begins with the back neck ribbing, which is picked up to form the back panel. Stitches are then picked up along the shoulders to work the fronts and integrated neckband down to the underarms. The body is worked flat, while the sleeves are worked in the round for a clean, modern finish.

This is a versatile layering piece you’ll reach for often — polished enough to dress up, relaxed enough for everyday wear.

The Gather Sleeve Cardi is designed to be worn with 15–26 cm / 6–10" of positive ease, depending on your fit preference.

Yarn Requirements

This pattern is designed for 4-ply / fingering weight yarn.
When choosing your yarn, focus on metreage rather than ball count, as ball sizes vary between brands.

Choose a fingering-weight yarn that meets gauge for best results.

Note: Sleeves and neckline are worked using the magic loop method, but you may prefer a shorter cord or DPNs.
