Dagmar Sweater Man – Printed Knitting Pattern (English)

Printed pattern – not a digital download

The Dagmar Sweater Man is a classic, well-structured men’s sweater worked from the top down in a beautiful textured stitch pattern. It has a relaxed, traditional fit with plenty of positive ease, making it comfortable, warm, and ideal for everyday wear.

The sweater begins with the back yoke worked flat, followed by shoulders picked up and shaped from the yoke. The body is then worked in the round, with sleeves picked up at the armholes and worked downwards. A neat ribbed neckline is added at the end.

This construction allows you to try the sweater on as you go and adjust length if needed.

Fit & Style

  • Designed with generous positive ease (approx. 20 cm)

  • Traditional men’s silhouette

  • Structured fabric with clear stitch definition

  • Ideal for colder climates and long-term wear

Yarn Type (generic guidance)

This pattern is designed for a worsted / 10-ply weight yarn, knit as a single strand.

Best suited yarn characteristics:

  • Wool or wool-rich yarn

  • Medium structure (not fluffy or overly soft)

  • Good stitch definition for textured patterns

  • Around 160–180 metres per 100g

Avoid very drapey, silky, or halo-heavy yarns — this sweater relies on structure.
