The Cloud Sweater is a beautifully soft, relaxed sweater worked from the top down. It features gentle shaping through the shoulders using short rows, creating a lovely fit that sits well across the upper body.

You begin with the back yoke, worked flat with short rows to shape the shoulders. Each shoulder is then worked separately before being joined to form the front yoke. From there, the body is joined in the round and worked down seamlessly.

Sleeves are picked up around the armholes and worked in the round. The sweater is finished with a soft funnel neckline, worked in stockinette stitch from picked-up stitches.

This is one of those pieces that feels simple to knit but gives a really polished, wearable result.

The Cloud Sweater is designed to have approximately 25 cm of positive ease in the smaller sizes, gradually reducing in the larger sizes.

Yarn Requirements

This pattern is designed for a soft, slightly fluffy yarn with a gentle halo, or a blown yarn / yarn + mohair combination.

You’re aiming for a finished fabric that feels light, airy, and warm without being heavy.

You can achieve this in a few ways:

Option 1: Blown yarn (single strand)
Look for yarns around 110–150 metres per 50 g, with a light, airy structure.

Option 2: Smooth yarn + halo strand held together

• Main yarn: approx. 200–250 metres per 50 g (4 ply / fingering weight)

• Held with: a laceweight mohair or halo yarn (approx. 210–225 m per 25 g)
