A cardigan you’ll reach for again and again. This timeless V-neck design pairs a softly shaped round yoke with neat ribbed trims and a six-button front. Its relaxed fit and clean lines make it lovely for everyday layering, while a tweedy yarn gives the fabric beautiful depth and character.

Worked from the bottom up, the body is knitted flat and the sleeves in the round before they join for the yoke. The V-neck shaping is worked into the yoke, with picked-up 1×1 rib front bands and six evenly spaced buttonholes. Only the underarms need seaming.

Yarn & supplies

Choose a DK-weight yarn that meets the pattern gauge. Based on 50 g balls of approximately 133 m, allow 8 (8) 10 (10) 12 (12) balls. Allow extra yarn for swatching and differences in tension.

• 3.25 mm circular needles with 40 cm and 80 cm cords, and 4.00 mm circular needles
• Optional double-pointed needles for cuffs

Gauge & skill level

22 stitches and 30 rows = 10 × 10 cm in stocking stitch on 4.00 mm needles. Check your tension and adjust needle size if needed for the right fit.
