This cardigan is worked holding two strands together throughout — one strand of a chunky base yarn and one strand of silk mohair.
The original chunky yarn used for this pattern was a bulky-weight yarn, spun as a single strand, made from alpaca blended with wool, with approximately 125 metres per 50 g ball. When held together with silk mohair, it creates a light but lofty fabric with plenty of warmth and softness.
