Monday Sweater

The Monday Sweater is one of those reliable, wear-it-on-repeat knits.

It’s worked from the top down with raglan increases, so you can try it on as you go and adjust the body and sleeve length to suit. Short rows are worked at the back of the neck for a better fit, while the folded neckband gives it that clean, finished look.

Simple, classic, and the kind of sweater you’ll reach for constantly.

Yarn notes

There are two ways you can choose yarn for this pattern.

Option 1: Fine yarn and mohair held together

Use:

• One strand of fine 4 ply wool yarn

• Held together with one strand of laceweight silk mohair or another light halo yarn

This combination creates a soft, light fabric with gentle fluff and drape.

Option 2: One strand of DK yarn

A single strand of DK or light 8 ply yarn can also work well.

This will give you:

• A slightly more structured fabric

• A cleaner finish without the mohair halo

• A practical, everyday sweater

Whichever option you choose, the most important thing is achieving the pattern gauge of 21 stitches over 10 cm on 4 mm needles.

The Monday Sweater is designed with approximately 15–20 cm of positive ease for a relaxed fit.

Measure around your bust, or the widest part of your upper body, and choose the size that gives you approximately 15–20 cm of positive ease.

21 stitches × 28 rows = 10 × 10 cm in stocking stitch on 4 mm needles.

A quick tip before you start

A single DK yarn makes this a great everyday sweater. The finished fabric will generally be a little more structured and defined than the fine yarn and mohair version.

As always, knit and wash your gauge swatch before choosing your size or buying the full amount of yarn. Matching the gauge matters more than matching the yarn label.
