Amelie Tee

Classic stripes and a gently relaxed fit make the Amélie Tee a lovely everyday addition to your handmade wardrobe. Pair it with your favourite jeans or skirt, and enjoy choosing a stripe combination that feels like you.

The Amélie Tee is worked from the top down in striped stockinette stitch. The first section of the yoke is knitted flat, back and forth, to shape the neckline. The work is then joined in the round, and the rest of the yoke is shaped with raglan increases on a circular needle. Stitches are picked up along the neckline to work a stockinette stitch edge.

Yarn

4 ply yarn in your chosen stripe colours. Select your yarn to achieve the stated gauge after blocking.

Designed with approximately 7 cm [2¾ inches] of positive ease, meaning the finished tee is intended to be approximately 7 cm larger in circumference than your bust measurement. Measure around your bust, or the widest part of your upper body, before choosing your size.

For example, a 90 cm bust measurement would suit size S, with a finished bust circumference of 97 cm, giving 7 cm of positive ease.

Gauge

28 stitches × 38 rows = 10 × 10 cm [4 × 4 inches] in stockinette stitch on 3 mm [US2½] needles after blocking.

Check your gauge with a blocked swatch, and adjust your needle size as needed to achieve the correct stitch and row count.

Needles

• 3 mm [US2½] circular needles: 60 and 80 and/or 100 cm [24 and 32 and/or 40 inches].
• 2.5 mm [US1½] circular needles: 40 and 80 cm [16 and 32 inches].
• 3 mm [US2½] and 2.5 mm [US1½] double-pointed needles.

Techniques used

Striped stockinette stitch, knitting flat and in the round, raglan increases and picking up stitches for the neckline edge.
