High Country Hideaway by Yarn Phase
Seasonal Limited Release | 1 March 2026 – 28 February 2027
There’s something about the Canterbury high country that gets under your skin.
The way the hills shift from slate blue to rusty copper as the light changes. The deep rose shadows at dusk. That flash of gold when the sun catches dry grass just right.
High Country Hideaway was created to capture that exact feeling of escape.
Dyed by Laura of Yarn Phase, this is a truly local yarn in the deepest sense of the word. The merino comes from The Grumpy Merino station in Culverden. It’s grown in North Canterbury, processed in North Canterbury, and hand dyed right here too. From paddock to skein, it’s ours.
And we are ridiculously proud of that.
An Inviting Explosion of Colour
Slate Blue. Rich Rusty Copper. Deep Rose. Gold.
Some shades are beautifully solid. Others carry gentle tonal shifts. All of them are designed to work together effortlessly for colourwork, fades, stripes, or those “I want something special” moments.
Buy a single hank for a treasured project…
Or gather a few and let them play together like the hills they were inspired by.

This yarn speaks directly to our support-local lovers. The ones who care where their fibre comes from. The ones who want to know the farmer, the dyer, the land.
It’s not just wool.
It’s rural Canterbury.
It’s that deep breath you take when you’re out of town.
It’s slowing down enough to make something with your hands.
Important Notes

-
We recommend alternating two skeins if using more than one to ensure even colour distribution.
-
Each batch is unique. Photos are indicative and colour may vary slightly.
-
