A beautifully considered colourwork yoke pullover from Kiniki Knits — the Otago Drylands Sweater is a New Zealand interpretation of a classic form. Worked top-down in DK yarn with short-row shaping at the back neck for a comfortable, well-fitted result, the yoke features charted motifs representing three native drylands flora from the Otago landscape: a gentle, nature-inspired rhythm around the neckline that draws directly from the muted, earthy tones of one of New Zealand's most distinctive regions.
After the yoke is complete, stitches are picked up under the arms and the body and sleeves are worked in the round — a seamless, satisfying construction that keeps the knitting flowing. The sleeves are finished last, also in the round. For knitters already familiar with stranded colourwork, this is a straightforward project; for those new to the technique, it's an enjoyable and well-supported introduction.
