A beginner's tam/beret from Kiniki Knits that proves you don't need complicated techniques to make something beautiful. Halo is built on simple garter and stockinette stitch — the focus here is on doing the basics well and letting the yarn do the rest. In the main body of the hat, a fine mohair and silk yarn is introduced alongside the main yarn, creating a shift in colour, a thick felt-like fabric, and the soft, luminous halo that gives the pattern its name. The result is a hat that looks far more complex than it is, and feels extraordinary to wear.
The pattern is written in an expanded format specifically for beginners, with clear, detailed instructions that guide you through each step. It's an ideal first hat project — or a first experience with holding two yarns together — and the two-yarn technique in the crown section is a gentle, low-stakes introduction to working with a halo yarn.
