Alba Beanie

A colourwork beanie from Kiniki Knits — the Queenstown-based designer whose patterns we're proud to stock at The Wool Shop. The Alba Beanie is worked in DK / 8 ply yarn and gives you genuine creative flexibility: knit it in two, three, or four colours, each combination producing a different result. Finish it with a pom pom for a classic look, or a tassel if you prefer something a little more relaxed. By adjusting the length of the ribbing, you can also choose between a close-fitting style or a looser crown with some easy, casual flop — both options are shown in the pattern.

The pattern is named after the Ruta de Alba, a hiking trail in Sobrescobio, Spain — a place the designer visited with her son while the beanie was taking shape. That sense of place and movement comes through in the design: it's a beanie that feels considered without being fussy, and wearable without being plain.
