Discover the pure beauty of Canterbury Polwarth wool, grown and hand-dyed on Starcrest Farm in Oxford, North Canterbury.

Eleanor and Jack Patterson raise their Polwarth sheep just down the road from us in Rangiora. Their fleece is processed in Christchurch, then Eleanor hand-dyes each skein in her farm studio, creating yarns with incredible depth and vibrancy. From paddock to skein, these yarns never leave Canterbury β€” they're as local as it gets.

    What Makes Starcrest Farm Special:

    • Fully Canterbury-made: Grown in Oxford, processed in Christchurch, hand-dyed on the farm
    • Incredibly soft Polwarth wool: Prized for its silky handle and beautiful drape
    • Hand-dyed intensity: Rich, saturated colours with depth and character
    • Natural undyed options: Beautiful cream and grey tones straight from the fleece
    • Woollen spun: Light, lofty, and perfect for colourwork and textured knits
    • Made to order: Need more yarn? We can order additional skeins (allow 1-2 weeks as Eleanor dyes to order)

When you knit with Starcrest Farm yarn, you're supporting local farming, local processing, and local artisan dyeing β€” all within our own Canterbury region. It's a yarn that connects you directly to the land, the sheep, and the hands that created it.
