With a relaxed fit, a ribbed collar and neatly finished front plackets, the Petra Jacket is a thoughtful addition to your handmade wardrobe. Its generous ease makes it a lovely layer to reach for over your everyday favourites.
The jacket is worked from the top down, beginning with the back yoke, which is knitted back and forth with increases. Stitches are picked up along the back yoke to work the shoulders, then along the shoulders to bring all the stitches onto a circular needle. The yoke continues back and forth with sleeve increases followed by raglan increases.
The body is worked back and forth on a circular needle, while the sleeves are knitted in the round using double-pointed needles or the Magic Loop technique. Double-knitted front plackets and a ribbed collar complete the jacket.
Yarn
8 ply yarn. Knit and wash a swatch to check that your chosen yarn achieves the stated gauge.

Designed with approximately 22 cm [8¾ inches] of positive ease. Measure around your bust, or the widest part of your upper body, before choosing your size, and compare this with the finished measurements below.
- To fit bust: 75–80 (80–85) 85–90 (90–95) 95–100 (100–110) 110–120 (120–130) 130–140 (140–150) cm [29½–31½ (31½–33½) 33½–35½ (35½–37½) 37½–39½ (39½–43¼) 43¼–47¼ (47¼–51¼) 51¼–55 (55–59) inches].
- Finished bust circumference: 103 (108) 112 (114) 119 (128) 137 (143) 152 (161) cm [40½ (42½) 44 (44¾) 46¾ (50½) 54 (56¼) 59¾ (63½) inches].
- Back shoulder width: 36 (36) 38 (38) 41 (43) 43 (43) 44 (44) cm [14¼ (14¼) 15 (15) 16¼ (17) 17 (17) 17¼ (17¼) inches].
- Finished length: 50 (52) 53 (56) 58 (59) 61 (63) 65 (67) cm [19¾ (20½) 20¾ (22) 22¾ (23¼) 24 (24¾) 25½ (26½) inches], measured at the centre back excluding the neck edge.
For example, a 90 cm bust measurement would suit size S, with a finished bust circumference of 112 cm, giving 22 cm of positive ease. Finished measurements apply when the correct gauge is maintained throughout.
