Duo Tone Cardi

Like a cosy hug with a nostalgic nod to the 80s, the Duo Tone Cardigan pairs an oversized fit with raglan sleeves, a hip-length hem and balloon cuffs. Add the optional sleeve colour change for a playful two-tone finish, or keep it simple in one favourite shade.

This quick, simple knit is worked from the top down with no seaming. Once the cardigan is complete, the neckline stitches are picked up and knitted for just a few rows to finish.

Construction and skill level

• Suitable for intermediate knitters and above.
• Seamless, top-down raglan construction.
• The body is knitted flat.
• The sleeves are worked in the round using the magic loop method.
• Optional sleeve colour change.

Mohair and other hairy yarns can be tricky to unravel if you make a mistake, so a little patience is helpful. This is not recommended as your first cardigan or sweater project when using mohair.

Finished measurements and yarn quantities

Finished bust measurements exclude the neckband. Each row below pairs a finished bust measurement with its Colour 1 yarn requirement.

Colour 2: 109 metres / 120 yards for all sizes.

For a single-colour cardigan, add the Colour 1 and Colour 2 metreage or yardage together for your chosen size.

Yarn

Choose a mohair or mohair-blend yarn in 12ply / bulky weight that achieves the pattern gauge. The sample was knitted in Touch Yarns 12ply Mohair.

Needles

• 5.5mm circular needles with an 80cm cord.
• 4.5mm circular needles with an 80cm cord.
• If you prefer double-pointed needles for the sleeves, you will also need a set of 4 DPNs in each of these needle sizes.

Gauge

16 stitches × 21 rows = 10 × 10cm in stockinette stitch after blocking.
